Andros Island is renowned for being one of the most graphic and unspoiled islands of the Cyclades. The natural beauty of the Andros is unparalleled, with its mixture of fantastic beaches, spanning mountains, hiking trails and green canyons it stands out among the Cycladic islands. The old town of Andros is a place of age long aristocratic beauty and the many villages that make up the countryside of the island are a monument to Greek traditions.
While there are plenty of beach bars and nightclubs to support a more hip vacation experience, the island caters mostly for those that prefer a more idyllic, noiseless and serene vacation spot. Due to its size, the island rarely feels packed and if one is willing to drive a bit, they can find non-crowded beaches even during the peak of the summer season.
One of the greatest advantages of Andros is its close proximity to the mainland, while still being far away enough to not be affected by it in any way. Couple with its size, one would need to travel to some of the most remote and distant islands to get the same experience you can enjoy in Andros.
The area of Vitali is of such unique beauty that most visitors remember it as the highlight of their visit to Andros. Its location is similarly close to the main port of Gavrio while at the same time being far enough that it never gets crowded. The only time the beach gets crowded is during the week of mid-August, a reality that encompasses all holiday spots in Greece. Still, other than the beach, Vitali itself never gets crowded as there are no hotels or other tourist attractions with the village consisting mainly of holiday homes and farms.
